Environment is a major focus area for developing countries, many initiatives are taken by these countries which are very impactful also for Environment and Society. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan or Swachh Bharat Mission is a best example for such initiatives taken by India from 2014 onwards with an aims to clean up the streets, roads and infrastructure of India's cities, towns, and rural areas.The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is the most significant cleanliness campaign by the Government of India. Shri Narendra Modi led a cleanliness pledge at India Gate, which about thirty lakh government employees across the country joined.

Same way the port city of Hamburg, Germany, launched the Eco-City Project to serve as a new standard for green development. The Eco-City is made to be self-sustaining through the use of several green technologies. These include huge and smaller, vertical wind turbines to power the city. Apart from wind energy, the Eco-City also utilizes solar technology to run the lights.In Sydney, Australia, a public housing project proved that sustainability and affordability can be in harmony. The Lilyfield Housing Development constructed 88 units with the environment in mind.The Ocean Cleanup, founded in 2013 by renowned inventor BoyanSlat in the Delft, Netherlands. This initiative is comprised of over 70 scientists, engineers, and other brilliant-minded people. Their primary goal is to remove all of the plastic in the world’s oceans.
